Luo United Communities Organization (LUCO), was started in July 2007 in USA. It was formed to meet and raise hope for the millions of Luo people around the World, in their dream to restore Luo unification which they lost as a result of the European Colonial and Border Demarcation which split them apart, causing or creating many sub communities with different accents and dialects.

The goal of LUCO is to end the long isolation of Luos and build strong Luo Communities to restore their language and culture. Therefore, the members of the Luo’s family will be able to communicate effectively in their native language, wherever they meet regardless of their nationalities.

The Luo people are found in the following countries:

1: Congo/ DRC: Alur

2. Ethiopia: Anyauk

3. Kenya: Jo-Luo of Kenya

4. Sudan: Acholi, Anyuak, Blanda Boore, Brun, Collo, Funj, Luo of Bhar El Gazal, Maban, Pari, Thuri, and Jumjum.

5. Tanzania: Jo-Luo of Tanzania

6. Uganda: Acholi, Alur, Lango, Jopodhola, and Kunam.
