I find this article very encouraging. Luos in all the countries where they reside have always been sidelined and frustrated by respective governments. The Luo people have become subjects of mistrust by other ethnic groups. Luos in virtually all the countries have been viewed with a lot of suspicion. Look at what is happening in Sudan, Uganda and Kenya. That is enough to encourage the people of the Luo Nation that they need some kind of identity. To find a Luo taking the leadership of an African Nation has become a mirage even when all pointers indicate an imminent success. Luos are always good managers and there is no doubt that they will always perform when given opportunity. The current American president, Barack Obama is tirelessly working to prove his critics wrong against strong opposition from those who believe that an African can never do anything good. In Kenya, prime mister Raila Odinga has so far shown some good leadership quality. He is however working against a strong tide partly due to the fact that their coalition partners headed by president Kibaki are not interested in good governance and partly due to ethnic diversities and interests in Kenya. Identity of the Luo Nation is the way forward.

This article by Ojijo Pascal invites an important discussion. Indeed this website must be commended for its efforts at informing and uniting the Luo Nation and Afrikans worldwide.

My view is that as Luos (as the article above reveals) are open-minded ans as such must maintain a PAN AFRICAN APPROACH even as we come closer to understanding each other and how and why we came to be so scattered in Afrika and beyond.

Another article I have seen in this website by Terence Paito (why on earth did the editors stop the discussion/reactions after only two responses?) citing a strong tie to Kmt (ancient Egypt) and the Luo Nation is intriguing.

As Ojijo implies, our intellectuals/opinion setters/leaders must not give as abstract imagery and solutions to Luo Identity in this moment. I believe a proper chronological study of our history and a methodical purposeful unity-building linkage with OUR AFRIKAN BRETHREN & SISTREN will ensure a WIN WIN result for AFRIKANS.

We must adapt science and scientific thinking to our Afrikan culture and discard irrelevant and fearful notions that have been developed by ourselves and those brought in by our colonizers.

As Terrence Paito advises, we do not expect our mental colonizers to teach us uplifting facts and stories about ourselves.

Nyasae Nyakalaga Ogweth Piny Afrika, wan Jo Kmt!
